Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Layla Sade, Founder of Total NutriCare, located in Newport Coast, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Total NutriCare, and l perform a wellness consultation that takes into account diet, nutritional supplementation, botanical medicine, exercise, mind & body imbalances, and alternative healing. In a society focused on an allopathic mindset, I can provide natural options for the maintenance and attainment of optimal health. These options are designed to assist the body so that it can heal itself.

Tell us about yourself

I am a holistic nutrition practitioner who graduated with honors from all post-graduate institutions I've attended. I have a varied background in chemistry, food science, and nutrition. My diverse studies enable me to create a different perspective catered to each individual. I understand biological problems and mechanisms and can incorporate my knowledge of the best natural foods and ingredients into your personal diet to fit your personal needs. I am committed to the holistic approach to health. I inquire about your diet and lifestyle, take a medical history, discuss any stress you are experiencing, and advise you concerning your condition. Seeing my patients happy not only physically, but emotionally and mentally is great motivation on a daily basis.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishments have been encouraging people to reach their optimum health and weaning off of their prescription drugs for the past 12 years.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things I had to deal with was how to maintain my business during COVID. I lost so many clients in the beginning because of the lack of familiarity with the concept of a virtual world, but after a few months, not only did I expand my business, but I acquired many more clients internationally.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find your niche market: Specialization is your best bet — especially if you are offering a service.
  2. Maintain a personal touch: Send handwritten thank-you notes, etc.
  3. Deliver unforgettable experiences: Great customer service helps you to maintain your customers and helps attract and retain new customers.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Fall in love with taking care of yourself. Fall in love with the path of deep healing. Fall in love with becoming the best version of yourself but with patience, compassion, and respect for your own journey.
