Photojournalism and editorial photography for magazines and national news networks. "Don't just love something, do something for it." Connecting outdoor brands with meaningful conservation initiatives.

Tell us about yourself

Twenty years ago, I found that creating compelling imagery and sharing it with the world over the internet helped move people to take action. The combination of science, my deep love for my land, conservation, and a desire to actively participate in improving the lives of people around the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm not sure this is an accomplishment, but when people come to me looking for images of their loved ones who have passed. I'm deeply honored to help them present beautiful photographs of them and help their family and friends remember them, and help them move to heal. I'm also gratified by helping young, spirited, motivated artists find their niche.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Staying focused and knowing who you are as an artist. Technology and money will always be shiny objects trying to get your attention. Staying true to your work, values, and mission can be challenging when others may want you to stray.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Today you have to make wise choices.
  2. Combining your skills into a valuable package that your clients will pay for.
  3. Beyond being the best image maker, you have to: BE NICE, Problem Solve, and Savvy Communicator.
