Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Siobhan Olajide, Founder of Together For Better Therapy Inc., located in Whitby, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a Healthcare agency that provides Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Speech Therapy. We offer an assessment and evidence-based practice in all areas of ABA & Speech-Language Pathology to preschool, school-age children, and adults.

Tell us about yourself

I am a mother of four but have three children who are either on the spectrum or have a speech delay. I truly understand what it means to advocate for her children to ensure they receive quality and effective therapy.

I started this business because I was tired of my kids getting inadequate service, being seen as paychecks, and our concerns as parents being overlooked.
I wanted to address the service gap I experienced in this industry for my children and for other families like mine.

This is what motivates me to keep going!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment as a business owner was having a validated and approved mission and vision statement within a year of starting the business. Met with clients who had been through multiple agencies and were extremely grateful that we created - Together for Better Therapy due to the superior service they were now receiving. Also, having therapists reach out to us for a potential opportunity because they had a conversation with our therapist, who was proud to work with us.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I am a limited resource, and I cannot help everybody.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a need you can address.
  2. Build a team that is passionate about your vision and mission.
  3. Finally, just START!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Nothing good ever comes easy. Set a goal, make your plan, and work on your plan,
with discipline, dedication, and consistency, you will realize the goal.
