What's your business, and who are your customers?

BCF Coaching Academy is a team of experienced entrepreneurs and educators who are passionate about and dedicated to the development of entrepreneurs and business leaders globally. Our business provides online education programs and coaching for entrepreneurs (new and experienced) who want to avoid all the major pitfalls of launching their startup by allowing them to test and validate their idea in a "lean," agile, low-risk way, before they commit all their resources to launch their venture, thus helping them reduce their chances of failure, saving time and money getting to the market, opportunity cost and even heartaches.

Tell us about yourself

I have been a serial entrepreneur for 30 years, and I am a professional educator, former university investor, and founder of BCF Coaching Academy, which is an educational institution that helps entrepreneurs create businesses that are unique and valuable. I am also CEO of Asia Venture Lab, which is a venture studio based in Singapore that commercializes sustainability technologies. I am passionate about sustainability, entrepreneurship, education, and innovation, and I try to tie in all four core passions to help solve some of the world's most complex and challenging problems in sustainability.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I was able to raise capital for a $5m resources project we were partnering in.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Getting consistency in your team, employees, and customers.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Build a top team first, then work out the strategy of the business.
  2. Focus on the problem, not the solution; customers don't care about your solution or technology.
  3. Build a solution that is 10x better, not just 10% better.
