Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tiffany Crawford, owner of Space to Bloom, located in Camas, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Space to Bloom is a virtual and in-person yoga studio. Our classes cater to everyone - we meet our yogis where they are physically, mentally, and spiritually. The virtual, in-person, and on-demand classes are also designed to benefit people that have a busy schedule but want to prioritize their yoga practice. Classes are fit for all levels; modifications and advanced options are always offered. Ultimately, the best guide is you - listen to your body, slow the mind down with the breath. Space to Bloom is here to support you!

Tell us about yourself

My name is Tiffany Crawford; I live in SW Washington with my husband and dog. I enjoy living in this part of the country and all the beauty and adventures available around us. Before starting Space to Bloom, I worked in apartment leasing/sales management and then financial services for ten years. I had always been interested in the yoga, fitness, and wellness space and decided that it was better now than ever to give it a shot. I earned my 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate in tantric Hatha yoga tradition in Bali, Indonesia, in 2019. When the pandemic began, I started offering virtual yoga classes every Saturday morning, and everything snowballed into Space to Bloom from there! My motivation every day comes from a passion for yoga and the many amazing benefits. Getting messages and feedback from my clients saying that taking an on-demand class relieved the back pain they were experiencing or the sense of peace they know they can come back to, the connection they have found to themselves, it all is amazing, and I feel so fortunate to be a part of that for them! I want everyone to feel incredible in their bodies and live their most amazing potential! Let's flourish!!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Always showing up! When I first started teaching, I was so nervous and anxious about how my classes went. I wanted to make sure people attending felt great after and got out of the class what they were hoping to. Along with the attendance fluctuation that happened, I was self-conscious but always showed up. Doing that over and over each week led me to be a stronger teacher, and the experience built my confidence and boosted my passion for teaching! There are so many tasks, responsibilities, and new things to learn as a business owner, and I am so proud of myself for building it all on my own, but showing up no matter what is my biggest accomplishment! That's what it's all about.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Differentiating others' expectations of you/your business vs. your own. Especially at the beginning of starting your own business, people may tell you how they think you should run your business or what your offerings should be. There may be some great ideas there, but it can get a little foggy, especially when you're trying to figure it out on your own. Always come back to your vision, why you got started with your business and your own intuition!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Show up! When you first begin, the nerves and anxiety may tell you to quit or that you aren't good enough. You are better than good enough! What you have to offer is amazing, and no one is like you, so show the world what you're made of!
  2. Always come back to why you are doing what you're doing, what your passion is, and what got you started. Leading and making decisions from that place has more often than not always led to good outcomes.
  3. Find other business owners and entrepreneurs to lean on, ask for advice, or share experiences. I have found it very supportive of fostering a strong community you can offer help and receive help from.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Thank you for letting me be a part of this community! I look forward to learning from other business owners and entrepreneurs!
