Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tiffany Coyle, Founder of Virtual Career Girl and Co-Founder of Twinning Pros, located in Bergen, Norway.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have two businesses! My first business was co-founded in 2018 alongside my twin sister Tabatha called Twinning Pros, where we help small businesses get found online organically through Social Media Marketing, SEO, & PR. My second business, Virtual Career Girl, is an online coaching platform where I help women find a career that fits their lifestyle for the money they deserve by working online. I work with women in a 1:1 and group coaching format while providing resources to help them be successful online.

Tell us about yourself

I actually had the idea to start an online business back in 2008 when I was working in the computer lab for my high school. I was so determined to make it happen that I wrote my senior paper on it. Then ten years later, after working in different corporate environments and putting marketing on the back-burner, I decided to pursue a career in marketing that fit my lifestyle rather than trying to make my lifestyle fit the mold of a traditional career. I am able to help others achieve great results while being able to have the flexibility to be present with my family. That is enough motivation for me!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing the success of the clients I serve would have to be the biggest accomplishment! Whether it is the results, we get from our done-for-you services through Twinning Pros or seeing the women implement what we go through in our coaching calls in Virtual Career Girl, seeing the change happening in real-time is pretty amazing.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is being responsible for "all the things." From finding clients to setting up systems to keep the business streamlined to bookkeeping, it can be a lot to deal with!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Figure out if starting a business is what you actually want to do before quitting your day job. Would you be happy doing exactly what you're doing now but having a 4-day work week, a little extra pay, or even an extra week to work a year remotely? If that's the case, you might want to talk to your employer about the request or look for a career change first.
  2. Create a business that supports the life you want to live. Be crystal clear in the very beginning about why you want to start this business and focus on that. Let that be the compass that guides your business decisions and also be the support you need when times get tough.
  3. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely road, so building a support system is critical. You can find a network of individuals who are on the same journey as you. A business coach can be there to cheer you on and help you achieve those goals. Or even just a friend who can help keep you accountable. Having just a little bit of support will go a long way!
