Tell us about yourself

I fell into the world of entrepreneurship after having my first baby and looking for opportunities that would allow me to stay at home with my children in these younger years whilst still helping to support my family financially. This journey led to my starting my own business, Tiel Virtual Solutions, in 2019. The services we offer to our clients have evolved over the years, but our desire to serve our clients has grown stronger. I love being able to use my skills and knowledge in all things online marketing and tech support to help coaches, and course creators get past those tech roadblocks and focus on the areas in their business that bring them joy! What motivates me each day to show up and do my best for my clients? Being able to give the gift of confidence for their message!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being an entrepreneur and business owner is not easy. There is a lot of hard work, grit, and motivation required to keep moving towards your business goals, especially in the lows. I am most proud of the many opportunities running my own business has given me, from helping many other business owners to grow and succeed in their businesses to giving me the ability and time to be present with my kids in these young years of parenting. As well, entrepreneurship has given me the opportunity to grow in who I am as a person. I can do so much more than I thought I could even a year ago. I am proud of who I am today: a business owner, wife, and mother.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things with being a business owner is staying motivated and consistent in the ups and downs that come with running your own business. There will be times when it just feels hard running a business. It is in these moments that I hold onto my WHY of starting my business to stay motivated in showing up for myself and my clients each day to keep giving my best. It is important to keep pushing through these lows, to continue to be consistent at showing up and connecting with your audience of potential clients, and move forward towards those goals for your business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Focus on what's important to you and what success in business looks like for you. We all have different definitions of success, and that's ok. Don't look at what other people define success as. For you, success might look like running a 6-figure business, or have the freedom to travel around the country, or having the ability to stay at home with your kids. Whatever your definition of success is, keep it front and center to remind yourself of what you are moving towards.
  2. Connect with a community of like-minded entrepreneurs and business owners who are on the same journey as you. Running your own business, especially an online business, can be very lonely and isolating. It is important to connect with a group of people who understand what it means to be a business owner and who get you. Who can hold you accountable for growing your business, and who you can lean on for advice and support.
  3. Don't wait until you feel ready to start. Stop thinking and talking about starting your business (or changing your focus), and just go for it. Running a business is a lot of figuring things out as you go, learning what works and what doesn't work, and focusing your energy and time on those things that do work. As Walt Disney said, "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." Just go for it!
