Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Linda Lundstrom, co-owner of Therma Kota, located in Caledon Village, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Therma Kota is an online outerwear brand founded by Mosha and Sophie Lundström Halbert and me, their mother. Our customers want to look great, be warm and dry, and have shearling styles made to measure.

Tell us about yourself

After over three decades in the wholesale design/manufacturing business, Therma Kōta is giving me a chance to work with my beautiful and talented daughters in a business that we can operate from my design studio, which is near our home.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having a life in balance while growing a business and making our customers happy.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Learning to step back sometimes and let others take the lead. Being there to advise, but trusting that I can rely on them to make good decisions.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Everything is a gift. The successes and the failures or glitches are all there to help you learn and grow.
  2. If you can visualize it, you can make it happen. I call it remembering the future.
  3. Relationships based on respect are everything in business. With suppliers, employees, lenders, customers, the courier delivery person, etc.
