Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Theresa Vermillion, Founder, and CEO of Lighter Life Coach, located in Mason, OH, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I created Lighter Life Coach because I realized that emotional wellness is one of the most important aspects missing from weight loss/health businesses. I guide women from being overweight and overwhelmed to a Lighter Body and a Lighter Life so they can go from being stuck and struggling to be empowered. I do this by creating and running coaching programs, speaking, and writing books and articles.

Tell us about yourself

I left my teaching job to move for my husband's career at the same time we started having kids. Within seven years, we had three kids and four moves. Being overweight and out of shape, I became a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Health Coach. I began to realize the real reason women struggle. During this time, I became aware of different approaches to health. I also hired a coach for my personal growth, where I really learned the value of life coaching. I understood the value it would have in the health and fitness industry. I created Lighter Life Coach because I have the ability to help end the suffering of other women and guide them to a life of accomplishment, health, love, light, and peace.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Not giving up. Keep taking the next step, even if it is not the right one. Some days are amazing, and you land all the deals, and some days you doubt yourself.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being willing to make mistakes. Learn as you grow. Learning to do the things that are not in your zone of genius.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be willing to invest in yourself by hiring the help you need, whether it is a VA, a software, a business coach, or all of the above.
  2. Find a few networking groups that you really like and that help you grow as a person and as a business. Being an entrepreneur is a fun kind of weird, and you need to be around people like you.
  3. Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
