Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lorie Legatski, founder of Therapeutic Relief, located in Castle Rock, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am licensed as an Occupation Therapist specializing in John Barnes Myofascial Release Therapy and founded Therapeutic Relief in 1999. I work with a variety of clients, including those with chronic pain. Myofascial Release works on the fascial system, which interconnects through every other system of the body. Myofascial Release uses gentle sustained pressure to soften, lengthen, and reorganize your entire system.

Over the years, I have collaborated with other practitioners, including Pilates instructors, and have developed a unique approach to meeting the needs of my clients while incorporating the mind/body connection. It is impossible to separate the emotional and physical aspects of pain. It is my goal to teach my clients about body awareness while helping guide them through their healing journey.

Tell us about yourself

After working in traditional therapy, I realized there is a missing link, especially with people who have pain or chronic pain. It has been my passion to listen and offer a unique treatment that addresses their underlying issues. This includes instruction in self-treatment, which is so important in order to increase self-awareness. Myofascial Release can be life-changing, and it is never boring to witness change and empowerment as individuals learn how to listen to their own pain stories. My intention is to hold space for their healing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is to have word of mouth be my source of generating business. If clients are willing to refer based on their own experience, that is the best compliment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is managing my time to be able to see clients and fit everyone in my schedule with being able to meet their needs.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The tips that I would give to anyone starting a business are to be clear about what you are offering and be organized in the way you approach your services. Also, to keep an open mind for opportunities that present themselves.
