Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brandon Brooks, Founder of The Windy Rose, located in Portland, OR, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I’m a personal chef to an NBA athlete, and I own my own catering business and food cart.

Tell us about yourself

What got me into the business was watching my mother cook for my dad, and as a kid, I always found food so fascinating. What motivates me is watching other chefs create and display their drive. That keeps me in a competitive spirit to better myself.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to be a personal chef to an NBA athlete opened up my food cart. Owning a brand, I worked hard to make it known.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Sacrifices, long hours, lack of appreciation from some of the people you love, slow pay.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Always have a well-thought plan & always have a plan B, be yourself and creative, be in your own lane, and never ever let your competitor know your next move.
