Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nina Schulze, Founder of The Wholeness Hut, located in Lakewood, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Wholeness Hut LLC is a healing center that offers bodywork, energy therapies, past life regression therapy, and holistic leadership. My customers are people who struggle with healing trauma, those who struggle with repeating patterning and behaviors, and those with unresolved emotions- all of which prevent them from living a happier, healthier, more fulfilled, purposeful life.

Tell us about yourself

I am an Integrative Health Practitioner that specializes as a Reiki Master Teacher, Huna Kane Practitioner, Certified Yoga Instructor, and Past Life Regression Therapist. My personal healing journey is what inspired the Wholeness Hut. After being diagnosed with esophageal spasms and being told that I would have to be on medications for the rest of my life, it prompted me to make some major changes. When diving deep into my condition, I realized that it was my body's way of saying it could no longer handle being put through the stress it was going through. I cannot remember a time when my shoulders weren't stiff and felt as though they were up to my ears. That stress turned into high anxiety, where the most basic tasks became unbearable. The anxiety turned into panic attacks in the middle of the night. The panic attacks turned into these chest rattling, painful spasms. So, I began to implement daily yoga and meditation. I used aromatherapy, but what stopped the spasms was daily Reiki and energy work! I haven't had a spasm since! Knowing how past life and childhood trauma impacted my health in such a destructive way, I knew that my knowledge could help someone else in the same position. And that's what motivates me each and every day- knowing that I can help someone to feel better- no matter their condition.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think my biggest accomplishment as a holistic business owner is being graced with amazing clients who trust me to share with me some of the darkest moments of their life and allowing me to facilitate their healing. Offering a safe and sacred place, as well as being empathetic to a client's needs, is very important to me. I feel like this has been the key to maintaining clients.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner- especially a small service-based business- is knowing how to creatively and affordably market your business. For me, I started my business with very little money, from my home with remote clients, in the middle of the pandemic! Tell everyone about it, pick a social media platform and grow it, join networking groups that allow you to share your business, and get involved in expos and fairs that are appropriate for your business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Come up with a business plan and goals that you want to achieve. Why do you want to do what you do? (Take money out of the equation because when people ask you, they don't want to hear that! LOL) Along with this, what do you want to call your business? Make sure there isn't anyone else with the same name.
  2. Self-Care is VITAL! Make sure that you are getting enough sleep, eating healthy, drinking enough water, and getting your exercise.
  3. Network, network, network! Holistic fairs are HUGE for me! People get to meet me in person to make sure that our energies match; they get to sample my sessions at a lower cost. They can compare me to other healers and make the best decision for themselves- which I personally love! This can create a following as people look forward to seeing you there and most definitely brings in clients that are committed to their own personal healing journey.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Sure! I offer 10% off services for all new clients as a special "thank you." I also offer some amazing healing packages for those who want to have a deeper commitment to their healing journey.
