Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Michele Zipper, Co-Founder of The Well Center, located in Armonk, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner and co-owner of The Well Center in Armonk, NY. We are an integrative wellness center with acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic care, personal training, energy work, mindfulness classes, and FDN. FDN is a program where we dive into your biggest health complaints and uncover what’s potentially the root causes through functional lab testing. Through the results, we create protocols and then coach you through six months while you carry out the recommendations, and our clients start to feel empowered and feel their best!

Tell us about yourself

I think functional health is really important to empower ourselves to listen to our bodies and take action to really feel our best because it is possible. I first started working in the business after really learning so much through healing my family through some health obstacles. And I just want to educate and help everybody. I want to help them understand that they can take control and there are always natural solutions to dealing with symptoms. You don’t have to live with stomach aches, skin issues, joint pains, hormone issues, etc.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating a successful wellness center with my business partner, Deb Ross. We’ve established ourselves as a strong and trusted resource for the community by doing what we love and by practicing authentically and truthfully.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Financial and managerial obligations. We started our business because we wanted to help people, and along the way have learned so much about business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Make sure you get the right financial advice from the start and create a growth plan. People matter - and communication is so important. Always be above board and transparent - clients and employees respect that, and it goes farther than anything else!
