What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Victors Gymnastics provides outstanding gymnastics instruction to children of all ages in a kids-safe, family-friendly environment.
Tell us about yourself
After a successful 20-year career in a large corporation, I felt something was missing. Circumstances led me to combine my business experience with my college gymnastics background at the University of Michigan to start The Victors Gymnastics in 1999. It is our students, families, and employees that motivate me to give my all each day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In 2012 The Victors Gymnastics was awarded by our local Chamber of Commerce the Small Business of the Year. In 2013 The Victors Gymnastics was honored as one of the top 100 small businesses in America by the National Chamber of Commerce. We have been honored with several other awards over the years; most recently, in 2022, Victors was named Rochester's Best in Education and Training Services.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
As with most businesses, staffing is our biggest challenge. Finding experienced and qualified gymnastics coaching is difficult in our area.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would say to anyone interested in starting a business, if you are not willing to work hard, seven days a week, without expecting to get paid for at least a while, then don't start a business. You must love your customers, what you do for them, and be willing to put others' needs, especially your employees, ahead of your own. Those who persevere will find success!
