Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nuala McCann, founder of The True You Life Project, located in Cavan, Ireland.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help people reduce stress and anxiety in their life by teaching them how to approach their health holistically. We strengthen the mind-body-spirit connection that leads to a life of greater energy, peace, and joy. Most of my customers are female, 30-50 years, who feel like they're missing something in life or searching for more. They are at a point where they're not happy despite achieving many great things in life and struggle to put their finger on it. Many others allow the outside world to dictate their inner world. I teach them how to do the opposite - we mend the inner world for a much greater outer world.

Tell us about yourself

I first began studying Mindfulness and became a teacher in 2015 when I realised social anxiety was taking over my life. I feared everyone and everything and was convinced I was doing life "wrong." As the years passed, I added Nutrition, CBT, Hypnotherapy, NLP, Meditation & Yoga to my resume. There is no "one size fits all," and I have armed myself with the best effective tools from all of these life-changing modalities to bring my clients optimal sessions, workshops, and classes. My motivation comes from watching my clients grow, evolve, and expand. As spiritual beings in a physical - this is what exactly we are here to do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Watching my progress grow from a tiny desk to a studio overlooking the lakes where I now host well-being days and retreats.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Fully showing up and giving your best on days when you really don't feel like showing up!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be heart-centred, and ask yourself - is this what I really want?
  2. Allow the process to flow. Take the necessary steps, and drop the stress. Adjust plans and allow space for flexibility.
  3. Find a business mentor. Someone who has the results that you want.
