What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our language arts program for homeschoolers combines review methods backed by science, strong academic foundations, and beautiful, inspiring activities to foster the magic in homeschooling.
Story Weaver families are secular (non-religious) homeschoolers who know that communication is a foundational principle for success. They prioritize the happiness and emotional well-being of their children and are committed to doing whatever it takes to support their kid's unique gifts and interests.
Tell us about yourself
We know how frustrating the search for a curriculum can be. Each of us set out on our journey as homeschoolers for different reasons, but all three of us struggled to find programs that fit our families and our lifestyles. We came together to change the way families learn. We listened closely to the homeschool community and created a program unlike anything out there.
After seeing a clear need and problem, we continued to work on it. Seeing the impact on families motivates us. When parents tell us their children raised 1000 dollars to donate to Sealife, receiving a medal of honor for doing so, all because of our language arts project. There's nothing like it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
It has been a pleasure to work with a team of extraordinary researchers and engineers who are dedicated to advancing the field of language arts and making cutting-edge technology accessible to children around the world. Also, I'm proud to have contributed to the development and transformation of such an amazing product.
My goal is to help homeschoolers have a language arts program that makes a real difference in their lives and is impactful, and I'm always seeking ways to improve and expand my capabilities.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is the level of responsibility and decision-making required. As a business owner, you are ultimately responsible for the success or failure of your business. This means that you need to make a wide range of important decisions on a daily basis, including those related to finances, marketing, operations, and personnel. Overall, being a business owner requires a high level of resilience, adaptability, and determination to overcome challenges and achieve success.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Structure and plan: Most entrepreneurs dislike structure. But structure equals freedom. Choose the one that fits you and your company.
- Prioritize customer satisfaction: The success of any business depends on its ability to satisfy its customers. Make sure you prioritize customer satisfaction in everything you do, from the quality of your products or services to your customer service. Listen to customer feedback and use it to make improvements to your business.
- Stay adaptable and flexible: Running a successful business requires a lot of flexibility and adaptability. Be prepared to make changes and pivot your strategies as needed based on market conditions, customer feedback, and other factors. Stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends and technologies, and be willing to experiment with new approaches to see what works best for your business.
