Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Wendie Colter, Founder & CEO of The Practical Path, Inc., located in Tujunga, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Practical Path® Medical Intuitive Training™ is an accredited certification program for integrative healthcare and holistic wellness professionals. Medical Intuition is a powerful skillset designed to provide fast, pertinent intuitive health assessments. I also offer classes and workshops on intuitive health and self-care for the general public.

Tell us about yourself

I began my programs because I saw a critical gap in healthcare that Medical Intuition is uniquely designed to help address. I teach and present at premier integrative health centers, universities, and conferences. My biggest motivation is seeing the positive responses from doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers, who experience the efficacy of integrating Medical Intuition into their practices to benefit their patients and clients. Additionally, the insight and value that this intuitive skill brings to individuals to support their mind-body health is a major motivator.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I accomplished a peer-reviewed study to test the accuracy of my program's graduates. In blinded sessions, our graduates showed 94% accuracy in the evaluation of primary health issues, 98% accuracy in the assessment of life experiences that may influence health issues, and more. Published in the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine, it is the first published research on Medical Intuition in over 20 years.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Running a school means keeping track of many details and making sure everything is moving forward smoothly. Assembling an excellent support team is absolutely critical.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your homework to understand the needs of your customers.
  2. Keep focused on your most important goals.
  3. Hard work and dedication are key, but doing what you love keeps it fun and exciting.
