What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a flower farm and retail shop offering local, sustainable flowers, houseplants, and home goods. We also provide floral decor for weddings and events and host workshops of all kinds.
Tell us about yourself
I was in digital production for seven years before becoming a florist. I was really drawn to working with nature after hiring a florist for an event I was organizing. I started my event floristry business in 2017, intending to bring sustainability to my practice as much as possible, so I started growing my own flowers.
In 2020, when all our events got canceled, we pivoted to being a retail florist and have now expanded into home goods. I strive to share the wonders of nature with my customers through floral design, houseplants, and quality goods made from natural products.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating a business with multiple enterprises that support one another through resource sharing and limited waste.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Managing finances and making decisions based on projections You never know what's coming down the road, both positively and negatively, and I find preparing for the unknown very challenging.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
