What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm Minolta, the CEO, and Founder of Manuscript Queen! A boutique ghostwriting agency where we help public figures, influencers, and CEOs expand their voices and educate/empower audiences. I help my clients stay relevant and clarify their brand messaging with a book that helps them to craft captivating stories that will live in the hearts of their readers.
Tell us about yourself
I started working in my business as a freelance writer on Upwork. I was a single mom searching for opportunities to supplement my income. Upwork was the perfect way for me to start a new career. I stay motivated each day by understanding that I'm building a rewarding and profitable business that will create opportunities for my children and other people.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is helping over 100 women feel empowered to share their transformative stories through my book coaching sessions. It's reassuring to me that I'm using my gift as a storyteller and writer to help people live and thrive in their truth.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The biggest challenge is competing with the latest technological advancement that could replace my business. I embrace AI copy at this stage. However, I know that the human connection will always sustain me and my business long-term.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you're starting a business, always be a sponge and a student. The best way to learn is to be observant at all times. Success leaves clues.
- If you're struggling to grow your business, evaluate your last five decisions objectively. Be willing to learn from your mistakes and keep going.
- Your network is your net worth. Don't be intimidated or discouraged by people who are doing better than you. Open yourself to learning from them in any capacity that allows you to grow personally and professionally.
