Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Josh Blakley, Co-Founder of The Holistic Ape, located in Coeur d'Alene, ID, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our mission is to help you live free again. Free from physical pain, free from the mental jail you've been bound to, a connection to spirit to create a sense of freedom within, and free from feeling like you are your emotions. We are three well-rounded, holistic health coaches with a focus on you. We lead from personal experience and extensive education. Our team is comprised of a Chek Practitioner, a Women's Integrative Health Coach, and a Holistic Strength Coach. We'll empower you, teach you and lead you back to your optimal health and happiness. Whether that's balancing your hormones, getting your period back, rehabbing your injury, correcting your posture, losing weight, or finding your inner fire again. We're based out of Coeur d'Alene, ID, where we help people in person or virtually. We would love to meet you or chat with you to see what's been holding you back and how we can help you!

Tell us about yourself

What got us started in this is our own health struggles. All three of us have had our own gut health issues, menstrual health complications, posture imbalances, and countless doctor visits that ended in more confusion. Ending that cycle for people is what sets our souls on fire. It's what motivates us because we understand that it can be like a heavy anchor holding us down from what our true potential is.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment is simply taking steps to do what we do, from being prostitutes to time and money. It's our success stories from past and present clients.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things as a business owner is having enough focus and energy to do all the necessary things that a business requires. There's a lot that goes into a business; it's not just coaching people. It's finances, networking, social media, building relationships, time management, staying up to date on education and science, and so much more! That's why we believe it's necessary to have a coach or mentor in life, health, business, mindset, whatever. Someone who can help navigate. Why figure it out on our own when people have already paved the way. We can learn from them and adapt our style and methods.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't be scared to slowly transition from your current job to the business you desire, especially if you're bootstrapping it.
  2. Hire a coach, mentor, or volunteer your time and energy with someone who can teach you the ways, like Luke Skywalker and Yoda.
  3. Work hard, but at the same time nurture yourself, or you'll get burnt out real quick.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

You never really fail; you only learn. You are worth it and deserve everything you desire, so go work hard, love yourself, and go get it! Aho!
