Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Claire Dabreo, Founder of The Harmony Principle, located in London, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Harmony Principle is a wellness platform guiding people to live in harmony with the energy of the seasons. Offered through an online programme, season guides, events, and retreats, my customers are healing arts practitioners of all modalities and anyone interested in wellness, nature, and living in a more connected, intuitive way.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a Five Element acupuncturist in London, and so much of what I see in the clinic is ultimately rooted in disconnection from nature and oneself. When we work with nature's seasonal ebb and flow, we remind ourselves that we are expressions of nature, too, and that we have our own energetic ebbs and flows to work with. By inviting people to be mindful about observing and connecting to the natural world in their daily lives, I am helping them become more resilient, more in touch with their true nature, and more able to reach their fullest creative life potential. Nature is a profound teacher as well as a powerful healer!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Co-creating and running the master programme, which is a year-long guide to the seasons, really stretched me and forced me to expand my skill set.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Prioritising where to spend time and energy to have the biggest impact. Also, marketing is a minefield!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Look after yourself properly. It's hard to stay positive and clear-headed if you are tired, under-resourced, and stressed. Prioritising rest and exercise is as much an investment as cold hard cash.
  2. If you are a parent and you have a partner whose job is paying the bills, make sure that they understand your business is also a job, even If you aren't paying your share yet. You will never make it happen if your day is eaten up by laundry, life admin, and chores. Share the domestic load and keep your working day working.
  3. As soon as you can afford to, get admin support! It's such a time suck, and if you are in the weeds of that, you haven't time for the bigger picture stuff. Virtual Assistants are a great resource; you only need a few hours a month to make a massive difference.
