Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care & cosmetics, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Hamza Khalili, co-founder, and COO at The Hair Routine, in Montreal, Canada.
Tell us all about your business...
The Hair Routine is that best friend that knows everything about hair care. Our customer is anyone who is looking to embrace their natural hair and have it looking its best!
What's your background and motivation to grow as a solopreneur?
Hair can make a good or bad day. My motivation is our community of all ages that share with us daily how they finally fell back in love with their hair again.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Bringing together a fantastic team of highly talented people.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur?
You are responsible for everything and everyone. Although it is hugely empowering, this responsibility comes with a lot of stress and a heavyweight on the shoulders.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You will want to give up, DON'T! Your idea and business can change, but don't give up on yourself.
- You will continuously be rejected; remember that no one sees what you see; the vision is on your head, and only you can execute on it.
- Find the balance between perfectionism and execution; nothing will ever be perfect. Now is better than next year or when the time is right. The time is never right.
