What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is 'The Grounded Creative,' a strategy-driven branding agency. We specialize in helping entrepreneurs, change-makers, and business owners discover and embrace what makes them one-of-a-kind so they can confidently show up & share their stories with the world!
Tell us about yourself
I got into entrepreneurship when I launched my first business, "Arise N' Go," in the midst of the pandemic. I launched that business without any knowledge about what it takes to be a business owner. Luckily, that business was accepted into an accelerator program, which taught me much of what I know today. Through bootstrapping Arise N' Go, I leaned into my creative side and built a brand that our target customers really resonated with. In under a year of launch, Arise N' Go grew to be in stores across Canada, which prompted me to start helping other businesses improve their branding and strategy to boost growth and get into the market!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is being able to work with passionate business owners, founders, and change-makers and be a speckle of support they need to share their knowledge with the world. I feel grateful to be able to facilitate change, in my own way!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Self-care! When you're a business owner, you're constantly working and gaining inspiration. Sometimes it's tough to take a break and practice rituals that nourish you. But self-care is essential and non-negotiable for your business to thrive. I try to remember that and practice daily rituals that allow me to fill my cup first! :)
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start messy. You truly do not become an expert on day 1, but if you start, there is a very high chance that you will one day become an expert.
- Believe in yourself. As cringe-worthy as this saying is - it's also true! If you don't take yourself seriously, no one will.
- Don't forget that YOU are the secret sauce. Other companies might be offering the same solution as you, but what makes your company different is YOU. Harness the power of that. Good luck!
