Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rochelle Christopher, founder of The Financial Fix Up, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Financial Fix-Up is a money coaching business that helps young professionals gain confidence in taking control of their finances so that they can live their dreams now. I do this by sharing helpful tips on Instagram and in my blog, answering many of the common questions young adults are asking about their finances.

Tell us about yourself

I was inspired to start my business after spending quite a bit of time trying to get my own personal finances in order. I paid off about $20k in consumer debt over 18 months. I realized that at the time, it was difficult to find relevant information and that many individuals my age were never taught how to manage their finances properly.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest achievement has been having my clients come back and share their financial accomplishments and how their mindset has now shifted towards money. They have become empowered to take control of their money with confidence.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part has been finding the time to be consistent on social media since I also have a full-time job. It’s also been a work in progress to put myself out there and share my personal finance mistakes and accomplishments since talking about finances are often taboo.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in your voice and what you have to share. Your opinion is unique and worth listening to.
  2. Make your customers your focal point. This will help you cater to their needs more intentionally.
  3. Set SMART goals.
