Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kori Chilibeck and Matt Moreau, founders of The Earth Group, located in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We're a social enterprise and B Corp that exists entirely to feed and educate children and do so through the sale of bottled water, coffee, and tea. We support the United Nations World Food Programme by funding their school feeding programs.

Tell us about yourself

Through travel, at a young age, we saw how lucky we are to have all that we have and wanted to do something to address some of the inequality in the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We've funded over 4 million school meals for children. This is thanks to people and businesses choosing our story and product and believing that we as consumers have the power to make positive change in the world simply through our everyday purchases.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The ups and downs. Realizing that it's ok to have shit days where it seems like the wheels are completely falling off. That not every day is going to go as you wish it would, but recognizing that if you stay the course, the goals you set yourself can be reached and success earned.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Find something that's going to motivate you to get out of bed in the morning and chase down your goals. Find some incredible mentors who will be there to listen or provide guidance when needed. And work to make the time to enjoy all the beautiful things life has to offer. It doesn't have to be and shouldn't be all work and no play!
