Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Casey Ridley, President of The Designery, located in Chattanooga, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a kitchen, bath, and closet company specializing in cabinetry, countertops, flooring, accessories, and related items. Our customers are homeowners, renovators, contractors, or developers.

Tell us about yourself

Entrepreneurship and the strategy of business motivate me every day. It’s been a dream of mine for a long time to work for myself and help others fulfill a need. After graduating college, I purchased this small, local company and grew it to a franchisable one with locations across the nation.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping other entrepreneurs achieve their dreams and success by franchising this brand I have created.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

There are always ups and downs in all businesses. Understanding how to juggle and manage stress can be a difficult task, especially as a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Look at franchising. You’re in business for yourself, but not by yourself.
  2. Network, network, network.
  3. Push yourself to your limit and then keep going. You can outwork any disadvantage in business. Never stop.
