Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jade Maree, author of The Corona Chronicles, located in Nashville, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the author of the ongoing “The Corona Chronicles” series! This is a young adult fiction series based on notebooks I kept during the Coronavirus pandemic. I write for teens, young adults, and anyone whose lives changed forever once 2020 hit.

Tell us about yourself

I’ve always loved to write, and I usually enjoy creating fiction stories. But when the pandemic came at the start of 2020, I found a new love for journaling my own life. Because at the time, everything that was going on seemed too crazy to be anything other than fiction, anyway. When I’m not writing, I love being active (I’m a track and tennis athlete!) and spending time with my family, who has always encouraged me to tell the world my story.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Without a doubt, getting my first book published before graduating high school in May was my greatest accomplishment. Senior year brought about its own set of challenges, so it meant a lot that I was able to do something so large.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

With “The Corona Chronicles” being based on my own life, it can be difficult to be so vulnerable to the world. Sometimes, I worry that people won’t like what I have to say or that the people I’ve always known will look at me differently. But even then, I know that at least one person who reads my books will see themselves in the story, which makes it all worth it for me.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Pick up your pen and write. Especially for future authors, but everyone can benefit from putting their ideas, fears, etc. on paper
  2. It is all a learning process. You grow as you go.
  3. Don’t think too much. Sometimes, impulsivity is exactly what you need to soar.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

As previously mentioned, “The Corona Chronicles” is a series! The first book, ‘The Beginning of the End,’ is out now and can be found on Amazon. In addition, book two of the series is launching soon, and you definitely don’t want to miss it!
