Organize and Share Your Recipes Now - The Cookbook Creative

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elaine Acker, Founder of The Cookbook Creative, located in Lakeway, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At The Cookbook Creative, we've made it easy for anyone to publish their own cookbook. Whether you're an individual capturing family recipes, a food entrepreneur marketing your business, or a fundraiser, you can publish a cookbook you'll be proud to share.

Tell us about yourself

Food brings people together. I wanted to give people an easy way to share their stories, cultures, and experiences. And I wanted to remove the barriers to professional publishing. Now, people can either use our DIY platform or work with our publishing team to create their own cookbook and distribute it online and in independent bookstores.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

There's nothing like "cooking from scratch," so to speak: starting a business with nothing but an idea and taking it step-by-step from idea to launch.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, it's hard to stay focused on the highest priorities. I see opportunities and inspiration everywhere I turn. But I know that diluted focus delivers diluted results, so launching The Cookbook Creative has been especially rewarding in that it required more focus and attention to detail than any other project I've tackled in my career.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't try to be an expert in every aspect of technology. You will rely on technology in building your business, but technology changes so rapidly that you need to accept that it's impossible to be proficient in every tool you'll use.
  2. Ask for help. You won't have all the answers - and no one expects you to (except sometimes, you). If you can learn from others' experiences, you'll accelerate the success of your business.
  3. Never let perfection stand in the way of excellence. I've found that when I make excellence my standard of measure, I can celebrate and move forward with new offers, launches, and product upgrades without second-guessing the value I bring to my clients.
