Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Wolf Castillo, co-creator of The Cold Experiment, located in Ocoee, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At The Cold Experiment, we support people in conquering the challenging moments in their lives through breathwork, community, and cold therapy, so they can create an F yes life and cultivate deep inner peace.

Tell us about yourself

I was invited to do an ice bath at a friend's home. Keeping a long story short, I was really anxious when the time to enter the ice water came. My head was spinning & my body felt super uneasy. As I entered the water, a part of me entered a fight/flight/freeze stress response that was accompanied by hyperventilating. 1 minute in, nothing changed, and I didn't think I would make it to the suggested 3 mins, but after 1.5 mins something changed. The chatter in my skull completely stopped, my body started to feel HOT, and for the first time in a long time, I felt deeply at PEACE. I came home.

This experience made me realize that the cold was a mirror and that it could only show me the truth that I held within. Having struggled with pretty severe depression and anxiety for a good part of my life, Cold Therapy has brought me deeper peace and connection within myself than ever in my entire life....and that's what motivates me to share this medicine with as many people as possible.

I am, we are, a stand for RADICALLY TRANSFORMING the mental health and well-being of our planet and striving to our greatest potential.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Facilitating a 40+ person breathwork & icebath event for a group of "strangers" created a space where people could cry, laugh, and be witnessed in all that they are.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Ensuring that the experience, core values, and mission are NEVER superseded by the desire to increase profitability.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get yourself a coach/mentor with a proven track record for creating successful businesses that can outline the actions to avoid and the actions to take.
  2. Create a really strong FOUNDATION (systems, processes, etc.) BEFORE scaling in size. Why? Because a business, like a tree with a poor root system that does not run deep, will not survive the storm that is being a business owner.
  3. Hire GOOD people ASAP to take on tasks/work that is keeping you from working ON vs. working IN the business. (Fiverr, and Freelancer are good resources)
