Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elizabeth Clamon, CEO of The Clamon Group, LLC., located in Mineola, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a motivational speaker, international bestselling author, and collaborator, business and storytelling coach. I mostly serve female entrepreneurs who want to start, grow, and/or excel in business and still have the life they love. They work with me to become Fierce and Unstoppable because I'm on a mission to see women entrepreneurs flourish in every area of their life.

My husband and I also speak and coach together on marriage. Our fresh approach to marriage is inspiring and forward-thinking. We love presenting our unique message in an unorthodox and humorous way to help couples improve their marriage and strive toward the life they've always dreamed of.

Our most significant accomplishment in life resides in knowing we've broken generational curses and created a new legacy for our three children and six grandchildren. So whether through speaking, books, retreats, classes, our television show, podcast, or conferences, we live to share what we've learned and want to equip couples to experience the life, business, and relationship they have always dreamed of.

Tell us about yourself

I am a serial entrepreneur who had her first business at thirteen years old. I was too young to even fill out the paperwork for the MLM company I wanted to work with, so my mother had to fill it out in her name. I've built multiple six-figure businesses over the years, all while earning a doctorate degree and homeschooling three children, often on my own while my husband was deployed with the military. Plus overcoming an auto/semi accident that left me disabled and bedridden for twelve years.

I get up and do what I do every day because it's my purpose, I love my clients, and it is so rewarding to see them set goals and smash them. I have been speaking for many years, and I love it. I know that probably sounds strange since public speaking is the number one fear of most people, but it is my rocket fuel. I love to meet new people, see the look on their faces when they have that ah-ha moment, and then get the opportunity to talk with them and possibly work with them on a deeper level. When I finally got a decent level of healing after our auto accident, my husband had five years until retirement, so I gave myself that time to build my business to be self-sustainable. December 2022 is the deadline, and I'm happy to report I have exceeded my own goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishments as a business owner have been breaking six figures, becoming a multiple time number one international best-selling author, winning the Oasis Award for my first book, Beauty Rising from Brokenness: Journey through Childhood Trauma to Chronic Illness into Healing, and winning the RGH Speaker Talent search.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a people person, one of the hardest things about owning a business for me is working from home by myself. I would much rather work with other people. I thrive off of collaboration.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do what you love, don't waste your time doing something that's not fun and fulfilling.
  2. Do at least one thing that's out of your comfort zone every day. Put five poker chips in your pocket on Monday and move one to your other pocket whenever you do something out of your comfort zone. When you have moved all five, you're done for the week.
  3. Be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day. It takes time to build a business. Even when it doesn't look like anything is happening, keep working; it's like compounded interest, it adds up over time.
