Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Robyn Wyman, founder of The Calm Village, located in North Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is called The Calm Village, and I offer opportunities for clients to learn how to meditate. These host workshops connect people to nature and work one on one to help people heal themselves mentally, spiritually, and physically.

I am in the healing arts sector and help people through coaching/mentoring, working with the quantum field channeling energies, and supporting the physical body with natural remedies. This is a very powerful and fast way for people to heal their personal issues. I teach people that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience.

I’m the bridge that supports people to get the life that they have always wanted. I work with women ages 35–60 who have issues with:
-Self-esteem
-Self-worth
-Mental imbalance
-Emotional imbalance
-Physically imbalance
-Give their power away
-Who supports everybody else but themselves
-Suffering from burnout

Tell us about yourself

After an incredible series of losses and births in my early 30’s, I was struggling both physically and emotionally. I was also searching spiritually as I could not grasp what had happened in my life. I knew I needed to heal to support my three kids and myself, and mainstream medicine would not be the path to get me there.

I developed a practice of yoga, meditation, clean eating, connecting with nature, and using herbs and essential oils. Holistic health awakened a joy within me, and I decided to train in a variety of plant medicines and energy modalities and to bring these practices to my clients. I realized early on one of my gifts is holding space for others to feel safe. When they are in this relaxed, safe space, they would allow the healing energy to flow through their bodies.

As I learned different modalities, I began combining them and created my own way of healing that I call establishing your “Platform of Wellbeing.”
As an intuitive healer, I work like a detective to uncover the core wounds or issues that are keeping my client stuck in unhealthy patterns and traumas. I’m a healer, and I know this is my life’s calling. My biggest gift is when someone aligns with their higher self and what they truly desire. For me, there is nothing better than that.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping others to heal so that they can live a life full of joy, peace, and balance. When this happens, they align with their soul’s purpose, and their life becomes magical. I am so grateful to be able to do this work.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I love doing the healing but find the administrative tasks challenging. I have learned to focus on what I am good at and hired people to support me in weaker areas.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Realize that being an entrepreneur can be lonely.
  2. Find support from others, network, or join a community of like-minded people.
  3. Be passionate about what you are doing; my business is an extension of how I live my life.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Collectively we have been through a few challenging years. In my opinion, energy medicine is the missing piece in transformative healing. I’m being called to share energy and plant medicine with as many people as I can.
