Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in floristry but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Harmit Panesar, Founder and Owner of The Bundles, located in Surrey, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Bundles is an e-commerce-based dried flower studio specializing in beautifully handmade arrangements. The brand is about a minimalist and neutral aesthetic, and dried flowers are definitely a reflection of that. A simple yet beautiful arrangement born from nature and assembled for you with care.

Our target customers are homeowners who love decorating and are attracted to minimal and neutral aesthetics, as dried flowers bring a soft, warm, and minimal design to your space. OH, and bakers that love to create boho cakes!

Tell us about yourself

Like most, I was going to school - thinking I would fall in love with accounting, but along that journey, I stumbled into the world of dried flowers. This quickly became my creative outlet, and I found myself feeling inspired and craving something more. That refreshing sense of fulfillment came with me being able to create these beautiful arrangements.

So, I decided to take a leap of faith, did a complete 180 on my original game plan, and flew to England to attend the London Flower School. I never felt more inspired, creative, and fulfilled—that’s when I knew I was going to make this my everything. Dried florals, to me, represent a subtle and minimalistic vibe that is reflected in every part of The Bundles. Every arrangement I create resonates with the same passion that inspired me to start the company.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is being able to learn from the top florists in the industry in London, UK, and bringing my skills to The Bundles. I have never felt more inspired, creative, and fulfilled.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The emotions and overthinking. Some days you feel confident and know exactly what to do, and then there are other days when you feel confused and rethink everything about the business. It’s an internal battle.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Stay true to your vision and what you want.
  2. Stay consistent – this is key!
  3. Try your best not to overthink and keep the process as simple as possible.
