Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alain Dumonceaux, founder of The Awakened Man, located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Awakened Man is a man whose life is a hero's quest. It is a journey of redemption. He is filled with passion and purpose. He may not have all the answers, and he doesn't need to. He trusts his mentor, the brotherhood, and himself because he knows at his core who he is, where he's going, and who he aspires to become.

If your life lacks something and you can't quite put your finger on it, join us and start your Hero's Quest. We are a group of men who have experienced the lowest of lows and have/are working our way back to becoming the man we knew existed inside.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a Purposeful Action (Men)tor the founder of The Awakened Man and the host of The Revolutionary Man Podcast.

Forged in the fire of life, for the past three decades, my hero's quest had led me from the highs of a culinary olympian to the lows of losing it all. My redemption story led me to uncover the secrets of personal life mastery through my certifications in NLP, hypnotherapy, and emotional intelligence. Today, with my mix of training, scars from the battle of life, and a desire to raise the standards, I show up every day with the men who participate in The Awakened Man mentorship programs because inside every man resides their own Hero's Quest.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Turning the lives of men from despair and frustration into stories of redemption and honour.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Keeping focused on the main driver of business, marketing. It's easy to get busy doing "non-revenue" generating things while putting off marketing the business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you research and know your audience. Don't get too broad. There's a saying in marketing that goes. The tighter the niche, the greater the rich. Stay focused on your customer.
  2. Get clear on your message. This one is a work in progress, so keep going back to it.
  3. Find a mentor. They've been where you are, so they can help you get to where you are going.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Taking something you are passionate about and turning it into a business gives you a reason to get up in the morning and get after it. There will be days when things just don't seem to be working. Take a moment and breathe. Remember, it's not the first hit on the rock that breaks it. It's all the ones before it. So, stay the course.
