Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Taylor Willingham, Owner of The AromaCarepy Co., located in Charlotte, NC, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
The AromaCarepy Co is an affordable, luxury brand created to bring self-care to the forefront of your routine from the comfort of your home. Handcrafted products for your bath, shower, and home - created with your busy schedule in mind.
Our customers are people who only have time to take a shower (or bath) and want to elevate it. We see a lot of working parents/people who might not have time to get to the spa or leave their homes for self-care. Our products allow you to incorporate self-care into your daily routine.
Tell us about yourself
I got my start at the top of the pandemic - when my self-care was basically non-existent. I wanted a way to practice self-care in the house (that was full of children) because everything was closed. Our first product was our shower fizz, full of essential oil blends, and it was like a diffuser and sauna had a baby in my bathroom. What motivates me is knowing that even outside of the pandemic, there are people who want to practice self-care but just don't have a lot of time. We have to prioritize this practice, and you don't have to change your routine to do it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would just say the overall growth of the business. We will be celebrating three years in 2023, and I am in awe of how this business went from a small hobby shop on Etsy to now, where I am operating a full website and other stores are carrying our products. It's really been amazing!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Just having to remember that every day, week, or month isn't going to be a winner. A business has ups and downs no matter who you are, what you sell, etc.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be resilient, and don't worry about what someone else's business is doing - your business is yours, and support isn't always monetary - sharing is support too!
