Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sonal Seth, Co-Founder of TGC Technologies Pvt. Ltd., located in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At The Gamification Company, we have successfully used gamification principles combined with other behavioral sciences principles such as Appreciative Inquiry and Value Creation Process. It goes beyond points, badges, and leaderboards by enabling every individual to build relationships, cultivate creativity, and optimize their potential in any field.

We operate in three verticals, SaaS-based Gamified Platforms spanning across the entire employee lifecycle, right from sourcing to engagement, Gamification CoE, where we do ideation, consulting, and new product development for both our clients as well as our own product pipeline and Play2Learn™, where we build gamified skill and psychometric assessments.

We work with a cross-section of clients like Standard Chartered GBS, Johnson Controls India, ICICI Bank, Bestseller, Larsen & Toubro, Marico, etc., to name a few.

Tell us about yourself

Our journey in this space, too, was a gradual albeit natural transition from a conventional training and organization development organization which we started ten years back, culminating into TGC, which we started in 2019. As practitioners of Appreciative Inquiry and Behavioral Sciences, we saw gamification as a natural transition because it allowed us to bring the element of fun into our practices and make a quantum jump in the impact we were creating for our clients. Being able to bring about behavioural transformation resulting in improved employee engagement and business performance enhancement.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The power of gamification to bring about change in belief systems.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

While we have progressively grown through the years, cash flow challenges remain.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in your idea and back it up with research.
  2. Have the passion to succeed; it's not an easy journey.
  3. Know your finances.
