Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alexandra Gabalda, Co-Founder of Teuko, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Teuko is the first platform that empowers families to simplify lunch packing. Using Teuko, they find all the resources they need in one place. They can find and share lunchbox ideas that their kids love. Teuko is transforming the lunch packing experience by boosting inspiration and motivation week after week. Our community gathers families from all around the world.

Tell us about yourself

Jessica and I founded Teuko; we're two French moms who prepare lunch boxes every day for our young kids in San Francisco. We met several times while volunteering at our kids' school. But it was a pure coincidence when we met again and found out that we were both trying, separately, to pack healthy lunches our children would enjoy.

Finding new ideas for what to pack in a child's lunchbox is a tricky and sometimes painful process for busy parents. No matter your expertise or effort, the same problem presents itself every day.

What food should you pack? How do you pack a meal that's healthy and delicious without spending too much time or effort? How do you come up with new ideas when you're starved for inspiration? A huge number of families must answer these questions every day since half of the kids in the USA bring lunch boxes to school. When it's time to pack lunch boxes, parents look for ideas, efficiency, and motivation. Yet, resources are all over the place.

So, almost 3,000 lunch boxes later and inspired by ten years in management of complex projects in tech, Jessica and I found our mission: bring technology into the daily lunch packing routine, saving parents' time and leaving them inspired and motivated.

"Teuko" is a word invented by Jessica's young daughter when she started to speak. In her innocent world, it means "cute" and "good" and also expresses satisfaction when learning something or succeeding in a task!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Teuko is today a very supportive and creative community of lunchbox moms and dads who boost the families' lunchbox inspiration and collaboration around the world.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Focus on the vision despite all the distractions that come around and reasons not to do it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Set up and know your goals.
  2. Don’t stay alone. Ask for help.
  3. Keep trying.
