Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Moh & David, Owners of Terroso Studios, located in Newmarket, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Terroso Studios is a home decor home-based business. It's specialized in handmade home decor accessories. We design and make all of our pieces. Most of them are made of gypsum cement, plus some ceramic collections of one-of-a-kind vases, bowls, trays, and decorative objects. Everything we make goes through a lot of planning, discussions, and arguments (like any couple, lol).

We believe that our home is our haven and where we express ourselves and our personalities the most. From that, we started this business to be a part of everyone's house where our products will beautifully stand out and complete our customer's decor.

Tell us about yourself

This is Moh and David. Thank you for your interest in knowing about the owners of Terroso Studios.

Home décor has always been one of our best interests; we always loved to DIY stuff for our house and see what is trending and what people like to have in their homes. Because of this adoration for home décor, we started our small business from our house in Newmarket, Ontario, during the lockdown like thousands of other people who inspired us and gave us the courage to do it. We are still new and learning and in the planning phase to add stuff to our Etsy store in the future. We are so happy for what we've done so far and thankful for everyone who supported and inspired us through this journey.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to keep the business up and running during the worst times in modern history economically while, sadly, hundreds of small businesses are closing is something we consider the biggest accomplishment so far.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Actually, many things, but we'd say balancing between having consistent, high-quality handmade products and the customer satisfaction to meet their expectations is one of the hardest, in addition to having new ideas and keeping up with changes in the field all the time. Today the world is moving and growing so fast. The decor sector is not an exception but even faster because there are always new trends. Once a new trend is in, the old one disappears within weeks, and that for sure affects our business negatively if we don't keep researching for new ideas.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself and your business.
  2. Keep learning and stay open to new ideas.
  3. Be patient.

Where can people find you and your business?
