Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Terrina Taylor, Founder of The Payments Connoisseur, located in Baltimore, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Payments Connoisseur specializes in custom payment processing solutions for small minority-owned businesses.

Tell us about yourself

As an entrepreneur, we have to identify ways to be profitable while at the same time looking at ways to cut costs. Credit card processing fees are a huge cost that most small business owners overlook. They fail to realize that these fees can be reduced. My motivation is to educate small business owners on the importance of opening their own merchant account and avoiding big corporations like Paypal that do not have small business interests at heart.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been the success of my organization. When I started my business, I had little capital and no real knowledge of how to run a successful enterprise, but with hard work and dedication, I made it thrive. I focused on providing high-quality services that not only meet the needs of my customers but also exceed their expectations. As a result, customer satisfaction is at an all-time high for my company, and our customer base is continually growing.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being a business owner can be incredibly difficult, especially when it comes to achieving success. First, there's the difficulty of launching your own business - finding capital and customers for your venture, navigating the legal and bureaucratic hoops you must jump through to make sure everything is in order, and devising a marketing strategy... these are all challenges that must be tackled before you can even really get started. Once you've got up and running, though, sustaining your business becomes just as hard. Knowing how to manage cash flow, keep customers happy and turn over a profit can take years of learning and experience. You have to juggle the demands of ensuring profitability while also paying attention to customer service - what works effectively this month may not work so well next month! So you have to stay ahead by constantly innovating. There's no room for complacency in the world of business ownership.

If anything goes wrong with one aspect (say cash flow), then every other aspect could suffer too as a result. What makes this even trickier is that it doesn't matter how hard you work or even how smart you are- sometimes luck plays an important role in whether businesses succeed or fail! As such, many entrepreneurs struggle with feeling like their efforts aren't necessarily leading them toward success - after all, if luck has too much influence on outcomes, then much of what they do may seem fruitless at times. Navigating these obstacles requires great resolve from entrepreneurs; they need mental toughness while still being able to remain flexible when things don't go according to plan! Of course, no two businesses are alike, so there isn't one "right way" or formula for success, but with lots of dedication, many owners are able to harness their entrepreneurial spirit and ride out turbulence along their journey toward creating successful businesses.
