Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cousett Hoover, Owner of Techie Mamma, located in Round Rock, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Techie Mamma provides coaching, training, templates, and support to help Mompreneurs build and scale their business and live the lifestyle they want.

Tell us about yourself

Tech-girl from day one, I grew up in Silicon Valley and Silicon Hills. With a degree in Computer Science, I have been designing, developing, and teaching technology ever since. Before kids, I was a dissertation away from a Ph.D. in Educational Technology, which solidified not only my love for technology but also my passion for teaching. Now, I am on a mission to empower Mompreneurs to automate, build, and scale their business. I started Techie Mamma as a small blog with a newborn in tow; since then, it has grown and flourished into so much more. I want to empower Mompreneurs everywhere to build and scale their business and create financial freedom. My passion for teaching and love of technology gives me a unique superpower to simplify tech for minimum effort/maximum success and help Mompreneurs do business in the easy, fun, and profitable way.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Participating in summits and podcasts of some of my mentors. The Blogger Breakthrough Summit, Ultimate Bundles, and the Influencer Entrepreneurs Podcast, to name a few. I am humbled to be a part of the events and be able to collaborate with such amazing people.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Finding a community that understands what I am doing and why. Folks hear stay-at-home mom and think one thing; it's a pre-judgment that needs to be broken that what I am building is important and part of how I support and provide for my family.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find your superpower and passion. There will be days that are beyond difficult to keep on going. Kids will require more attention, and the temptation to quit will be real. Finding that superpower will help you give yourself grace and make it through those hard days.
  2. Stay away from Mom Guilt and worrying about what others think. We often fear what others think, which leads to comparisons not only in our mom life but then also in business. Unfortunately, we've been brought up in a society where people are very quick to judge others, which leads to this fear of being accepted. Work on your own confidence in yourself and your abilities as mom and Mompreneur, and leave the mom guilt aside.
  3. Find your community and support system. Mommying is hard to do alone. We need our village to be there for us. Being a Mompreneur is doubly hard at times. Find your BFF and Community that understands what you are doing and can be a cheerleader!
