Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Iisha Taylor, owner of Taylor’d Training, located in Louisville, KY, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Taylor'd Training serves all ages, primarily those between the ages of 18-70 years old. We help our customers with their overall health and wellness by focusing on movement via sports and functional training, as well as nutrition. We build programs around our client's wants and needs instead of trying to fit them into a mold.
Tell us about yourself
I first started training because I wanted to participate in athletics as an individual with physical limitations, also known as a disability. I had a stroke at the age of 3. I stayed in health and wellness because I realized that I could help my family with the information that I began to obtain and know to seek.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is getting started. I never imagined owning a business. And being a personal trainer, I see how hard it is for people to get started with their fitness goals, and those same things are universal.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things as a business owner is overseeing all aspects of the operation. Time management, prioritizing, and delegation helps with business operation.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The top 3 tips I'd give anyone are:
First, surround yourself with people who believe in your vision and want to help you make it a reality.
Second, establish and stick to the structures that you have within your business.
Third, keep track of all things coming and going in and out of your business for tax purposes as well as knowing how your business is going.
