Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tia Michele Walton, Owner and CEO of Taste Couture, LLC., located in Dallas, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Taste Couture is a black woman-owned online boutique catering to the ultimate feminine essence. We applaud ourselves for body positivity and body inclusivity.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business as a birthday gift to myself in October 2020. I had just lost over 100 pounds after dealing with several health issues and was truly struggling to feel like myself. I was on a journey of self-love again, and I wanted to help every woman achieve that.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having consistent customers! Some days we may only have one sale or no sale, but then the next day, we have 15! It’s not easy to keep going- there are days when you feel discouraged, but it feels good to be supported.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Knowing the trends and keeping up. People on social media will have you thinking that a business just grows overnight, but that’s not true. There’s a ton of love, work, and sacrifice that goes into having and running a business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient.
  2. Be consistent.
  3. Be teachable.

All three of these are a must.
