Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Paul Taborovsky, owner of Taraweddings, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We do wedding photography, videography, photo booth, and print albums.

Tell us about yourself

When I was in school in Ukraine, I randomly visited photography classes, then got into music festivals coverage for magazines and blogs. Worked for several years getting experience, moved to Canada, and started my own wedding photography and videography studio. I love shooting and love the fact that now we have 12 people team.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Coming from another country, not knowing the language properly, and not knowing anyone. Started from the very low and reached the point of having a big team of shooters, editors, and SEO guys.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Responsibility for maintaining everything on a great level. Especially being a perfectionist.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start slow. Build your skills first, not thinking about money, but trying to understand what you need to do for people to be willing to pay you money.
  2. Establish a workflow to be as efficient as possible, not wasting time on the same things every time.
  3. Be on time. Work ethics is very important. On-time, consistent quality, and respect for your customers.
