What's your business, and who are your customers?
Over 20 years ago, I started helping others heal through Traditional Chinese Medicine. I use herbal medicine, lifestyle management, and acupuncture for healing. People from all walks of life with chronic pain, degenerative illnesses, fertility issues, and more come to consult with me to help them without surgery and medications.
Tell us about yourself
As a little girl, I used to read books about herbs and ancient healing remedies. I never dreamt I would be doing that as an adult, but circumstances allowed me to pursue this as a career when I was in my early 20s. I absolutely love seeing people get solid results without relying on chemicals and painful surgeries.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I’ve had many incredible stories from my patients over the years. One patient came in and was using a walker and left without it, and stood upright with no pain. During the pandemic, I had two female patients with fertility issues get pregnant within two days of one another, and they now have two healthy babies! It’s seeing these little miracles every day that makes me get up in the morning!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I used to have a big practice with 18 employees, and the reality of it is that dealing with people is hard. Managing people is hard. I wasn’t good at it. I’m not in a one-room office, and I do all administrative on my own.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do what you love.
- Surround yourself with good people.
- Always learn from others who’ve been there and done that!
