What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own Talent Match, a team-building agency that supports salons with recruiting, leading, and retaining teams.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in the professional beauty industry for 20 years, always in roles that had me connecting to salon leaders and professionals. I am inspired by helping people grow - themselves and their businesses. In my journey about 8 years ago, I realized the gap between the salon leadership and team was growing as workforce generations tried to understand each other. I started working on collecting data to better understand the needs and wants of the employees so that I could help salon leaders build higher-performing teams.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Building, scaling, and selling a business, and then starting another one.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Managing the mental doubts that creep in while you are in the process of building a business. It’s hard to stay believing in yourself or your idea sometimes, and it requires real commitment and discipline.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Pick an idea you feel wildly passionate about. You need to love it, or you’ll find that you just want to quit many times.
- Make sure the problem you want to solve is a real problem before you invest a lot of capital in your business.
- Don’t be afraid to change course. Businesses are meant to evolve.
