Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with McKenzie Decker, COO of System & Soul Framework, LLC., located in Roswell, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We provide frustrated business owners a complete framework to run their business and create an amazing culture.

Tell us about yourself

I love studying leadership and systems that help a business run well. At the end of the day, it's all about the people, and I think what we've built is so powerful because it gives a team really practical ways to run the day-to-day and grow deeper in trust and relationship. It motivates me to do this kind of work because I really believe it can change lives inside and outside of the work we spend so much of our lives doing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think the accomplishment comes in seeing the breakthrough that happens for leadership teams when they are using our framework and doing the work. It's like being in counseling for months and chewing on an issue that keeps coming up, and then FINALLY, something clicks in a new way, and your perspective shifts, and you can reconcile something that's felt impossible to grasp. When that can happen inside of a business and for an entire leadership team, the impact is so big and deep. That's really fulfilling to see.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's absolutely growing as a leader and managing people. It's complex and takes time, and often I feel (like I'm sure many people do) that we are not equipped to do it well at all times and in all situations. It requires showing up and taking a risk, asking for trust, and being mindful of how you handle that trust. It's hard, but hard things tend to yield the greatest rewards.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Leverage the support and wisdom of people who have gone before you.
  2. Never assume you'll create a great culture or place to work out of thin air.
  3. Systems and the "soul" of a company have to be equally valued and built over time to really create something great that can scale.
