What's your business, and who are your customers?

Tell us about yourself
I had always been a holistically focused person, and my career prior to opening Synergy in September 2018 was in child welfare for 23 years. After realizing the stresses that personal and professional caregivers experience, I dreamt of a place where people could come to seek healing and relief and get to the root cause of their physical or emotional challenges. Each day I'm filled with awe at our talented staff and local community and the stories of healing that come from this sacred space. It is an honor and privilege to have created a peaceful and relaxing environment that promotes well-being and healthy lifestyles for our guests and staff.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Building an incredible team of gifted providers and teachers who have joined me on the mission to heal others. Together we collaborate, co-create, and succeed in growing and prospering after surviving as a new business in a pandemic. I am truly blessed and feel that Synergy always seems to draw wonderful people to heal others and create an inviting community for all.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
As a business owner, there is "always something" to work on, to grow, improve, adapt, and learn. For me, it's about prioritizing, involving others, and finding the balance between what's urgent and what can wait while keeping an eye on making sure our staff feels appreciated and our community feels welcome. And, of course, getting enough rest!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get very clear on your mission and whenever you're making decisions, ask yourself if what you're considering aligns with your mission.
- Get a good CPA on your team to be sure you are staying on track towards your financial goals and keep your eyes on the financial balls at all times and measure what's important in weekly or monthly dashboards.
- Surround yourself with like-minded individuals within your organization and outside of your organization as you network. I highly recommend shouting from the rooftops everywhere you go about the amazing work you and your organization do!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
There is so much to learn as an entrepreneur, and I think humility is an important quality. Be willing to listen to others, seek as much support as you can, find other business owners in line with your business, whether online or in your community, to talk with, and stay aligned with your mission as you move through your own life.
