What's your business, and who are your customers?
Synergy Cubed is a consulting firm specializing in helping fitness businesses become more profitable by developing profit centers, implementing medically directed fitness services integration, optimizing revenue streams, and providing a new approach to fitness facility memberships and fee-based fitness services sales training.
Our ideal customers are any commercial health club, fitness studio, medical fitness facility, parks & rec fitness center, or fitness franchise (at the corporate level.)
Tell us about yourself
I started MANY years ago in NYC as a Group Exercise Instructor. After several years as an instructor for some of the city's best and best-known facilities, I began to create new class formats and the training to accompany them. Within a few years, I developed 10 workshops that were CEC accredited through ACE, AFAA, AAAI/ICSM, and ACSM.
That led me to open a consulting business to bring the workshops to some national conferences and other facilities outside the ones where I was already teaching. After almost 30 years, I remain motivated by the desire to bring better systems and more effective business operations to whomever I can and (for the past 6 years) to bring medically directed fitness services to the commercial health club world.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
After 30 years and many successes on many levels, one of my most notable is that I have recently been recognized as a Fellow by the Medical Fitness Association.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Probably the hardest thing about consulting is the unpredictability of the revenue.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
In a nutshell, plan well ahead, prepare for as many contingencies as you can, and always be prepared to make mistakes learn from them, and forge ahead.
