Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in beauty and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tiffany Penton, Founder of Sweet P Beauty.con, located in Renton, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sweet P Beauty. There are two legs to Sweet P Beauty. We do wedding day makeup + hair, and in our beauty bar, we offer skincare, full body hair removal, lashes, and makeup. Our customers are brides and anyone who is looking for a great beauty experience with exceptional customer service.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Certified Makeup Artist + Master Aesthetician. I have spent the last fifteen years working up and down the West Coast, from Washington to Southern California, Las Vegas, and Florida. My experience has given me the opportunity to learn how to work with every face shape, color, tone, and skin type out there. My journey began with MAC Cosmetics at Nordstrom, which taught me not only about artistry but about delivering excellent service while always remaining flexible and positive.

In 2014, I got my Master Esthetician license so I could work on my clients' skin, making it look its best before makeup is even applied. I saw a gap in the industry between makeup artistry and skincare, and I wanted my company to be a bridge, especially when it comes to bridal makeup and skincare. Learning lash extensions was the last piece so I could make someone look and feel amazing from the moment they woke up with perfect skin and lashes, then adding the makeup element for the “wow factor.” Sweet P Beauty’s services come with a personal touch from the heart. Empowering the woman in my chair is my favorite part of my profession!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Have a clientele who has been with me from day one and referred Sweet P Beauty to friends and family. Knowing so many clients love what we do is a huge accomplishment.

I have been lucky enough to receive Best Of Weddings awards from the Knot for 8 years and now in their hall of fame, the Couples Choice award for WeddingWire, Best Lash Boutique for 425 magazines, and Seattle's top makeup artist in wedding rule three years in a row!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balancing all of the different hats in a business at the same time can be tricky at times.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your limits.
  2. Stay consistent.
  3. Treat others (including your competitors) kindly. We are all going through something.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I am so proud of the business Sweet P Beauty is today. I would never be where I am without amazing staff, contractors, industry friends, + clients who have motivated me to make this the best beauty business there is!
