Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Suzanne Luttig, owner of Nebraska Commercial Photography, located in Omaha, NE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a photography studio in Omaha, Nebraska. My clientele is diverse and totally fantastic to photograph. My specialty is headshot photography, and I also photograph commercials with drones and media in the real estate market and product photography.

Tell us about yourself

My business started in 2013, serving consumers. I photographed families, weddings, seniors, and children. I started to grow more into commercial photography during the pandemic as I could do work independently without people present, and I am now in the study of product photography.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is what I do for community service. I worked with teens who were getting out of gangs as a photographer for NILMDTS, and I gave back to my local area business association.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Working alone. I miss the comrades I worked with in my work life.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Get a business education at a local college if you do not have a degree. I know many very successful photographers who are extremely busy because of their marketing and business education. They are not that great behind the lens.
