What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have been an LCSW psychotherapist in private practice for the last 26 years. My clients range from teens and up, and at the moment, I see many people between the ages of 22 and 40 with issues ranging from anxiety to depression, relationship struggles to self-care, etc.

Tell us about yourself

I was a teacher and a creative arts performer and writer for many years, and moving to this work brought with me the desire to connect with others, to impact people in a way that might stir up questions and curiosity, and because I have always enjoyed working to help people in their journeys to self-realization and happiness. Each day what motivates me is the inspiration of so many people reaching out for help and who themselves are motivated to improve their lives, take charge of their journey, and develop self-awareness and self-care in a deep and mindful way!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think just sustaining it and understanding as I have gone along how things change and how to change with those changes while maintaining the integrity of the work.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Relating to the business side. The fact that it is not ever completely certain, like a paycheck that comes your way no matter what.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Love what you do and want to do.
  2. Get some ideas from research or discussion with others.
  3. Start small and grow.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Just working with others for me is a joy, and I learn as much as my clients!! I believe this is the key.
